grid / gridiron

The support structure close to the top of the fly tower on which the pulleys of the flying system are supported which provides walkable level on top of fly gallery; made of wood in older theatre and steel in modern theatres. Grid is short for gridiron.

Решетчатый настил над колосниками, оборудованный блочными устройствами для смены декораций, подъема и спуска осветительной и звуковой аппаратуры; имеет лестничное сообщение со всеми рабочими галереями. Для старых театров характерны деревянные колосниковые решетки, для современных – металлические.
