Small Size, European Network for the diffusion of performing arts aimed at early childhood (0-6), was founded in 2005-2006 with the support of the European Commission and the Culture 2000 programme.
It was established by seven professional theatre and educational arts organisations: La Baracca (Italy), Theatre de la Guimbarde (Belgium), Acciуn Educativa (Spain), GOML - Gledalisce za otroke in mlade Ljubljana (Slovenia), Helios Theater (Germany), Polka Theatre (UK) and Teatrul Ion Creanga (Romania). The European Commission has granted its support to Small size for the years 2006-2009.
Small size is an open network of all the organisations sharing its cultural aims and whose work focuses on performing arts for early childhood.
The Small size Network deals with the organisation of theatre and culture festivals for early childhood; the creation, production and co-production of theatrical performances; the planning of theatrical performances for early childhood; training activities and refresher courses; the production of papers, books and multimedia, to create exchange and sharing.
It also aims at giving value to a new contemporary dramaturgy for early childhood.
The Small size website will be available in a renewed version by the end of June 2007. This new version will allow anyone interested, to present their own initiatives onto the website, using the dedicated forms available within it.
It will be updated three times a year, with deadlines for sending information specified on the website. In September 2007 the first Small size newsletter will be released, reporting the main news covering this period. Information sent to the website can be included in it.
