15 June 2007 - 15 January 2008, Minsk, Belarus. Plays submission deadline: 15 November 2007
The Free Theatre Competition aims at discovering new and clever drama creations, and is an attempt to popularize new drama and new plays within the theatre audience.
This Competition has been created to promote new writing that is in line with the criteria set by current theatre, and is to establish a better 'Playwright - Theatre' link by letting Belarus theatres, as well as those from outside of Belarus, get well acquainted with the most vivid contemporary texts.
The Competition is open to all plays that are written either in Russian or Belorusian language. Place of residence or domicile of authors will not be considered.
All submitted plays must be original (the Jury will not accept staged versions of well known literature works or biographies of well-known or outstanding people) and must have been written within the last two years. By the time of submission to the Competition the plays must not be in production by profession theatres, nor must have been published. All plays are required to have a clear and exact indication of the date they were completed.
The maximum volume of plays is limited to 50 pages (Times New Roman, 12pt, single interline). The Jury will have to return all plays that exceed this volume back their authors for possible amendments.
The Jury will accept plays via e-mail only at email@example.com. Please enclose plays as MS Word documents (ZIP or RAR archives are acceptable).
The Competition is open from 15 June 2007 to 15 January 2008. All plays, however, must be submitted by 15 November 2007.
The long list of the Competition (30 plays) will be published on 10 December 2007. The short list (10 plays) on 25 December 2007.
The final decision of the Jury and the results of this Competition will be made available at an Award Ceremony in mid-January 2008.
