Festival’s aim is to showcase stage directing techniques and highlight select directors’ personality. This is attained by an ongoing laboratory – a Forum – for realization and discussion of contemporary directing, directors’ professional development, and introducing of young professionals into the field.
Following the previous year start edition of the festival, its concept has been amended: select performances for the Forum discussions are now presented by Festival moderators rather than by their creators. Moderators highlight performances’ unique points and introduce their unbiased view of the directors’ work for further professional discussions.

All discussions will be taking place immediately following Festival four performances. Further, a seminar for young stage directors and a conference about directorship involving music composers, set designers, stage architects, playwrights will be taking place. Participants will also be talking part in reconstructing some of the great performance works of the past.
Forum discussions will be held in Russian with translation into English if necessary for the International audience of the Forum. Additionally, limited translation into French is also being planned.
There is no Application Form, neither a deadline for applications, however, all participants must inform the Festival Coordinator of their participation in the Forum well in advance. Please include your:
Theatre Union of Russia, Perm Branch offers a limited number of Travel Grants to young theatre stage directors (up to 35 y.o.) to attend the Forum and participate in discussions and master classes. Travel Grants cover Travel and Accommodation expenses and are awarded to stage directors who are Not employed full-time by a theatre company.
Generally, the Grant Scheme is reserved to Russian residents, however, it may be extended to include International guests of the Forum, which is at the Organizer’s discretion.
