Baltic Contemporary Drama Festival VIEW 2008

A great opportunity to see the selection of the last seasons best productions of contemporary Baltic drama from Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania. All performances will be simultaneously translated into English.

The festival will present the latest productions by Latvian director Viesturs Kairišs and Lithuanian director and performer Benas Šarka among others.

We kindly invite festival and theatre directors and programmers to visit the Baltic Contemporary Drama Festival VIEW 2008, which will take place in Riga, September 10-13. Festival organisers offer free accommodation and festival tickets to a number of foreign guests.

Please send your registration form by 15th of August to viktorija@theatre.lv.

The initiative to gather the best productions of national drama from all three Baltic countries started in 2005 with the first festival VIEW in Riga, Latvia, organized by the Latvian Theatre Union (LTU). Each year the festival is held in a different Baltic country, and now it is back to Riga again. The festival programme includes two recent contemporary drama productions selected by each country. Discussions about plays and performances, meetings of Baltic playwrights complement the programme of performances, all having simultaneous English translation.During the festival the international jury is invited to evaluate the performances and to name the best one.
