Real Theatre is one of the most well-known Russian theatre festivals, which gives foreign professionals a great opportunity to see the best productions of the previous season not only of capital theatres but mainly regional ones. The basic principle of the festival is to show the reality of contemporary Russian theatre.
Real Theatre was founded in 1990 by Oleg Loevsky who is the festival’s art director and sole programmer.
In 2009 Real theatre will present productions from Krasnoyarsk, Kudymkar, Nizhny Novgorod, Omsk, Perm, Saratov, Tyumen, Yaroslavl, Yekaterinburg, Saint Petersburg and Moscow. Previous years' experience has shown that a significant number of performances programmed for Real Theatre half a year later end up nominated for the Golden Mask Award and are brought to Moscow for the renowned national festival.
Full program of Real Theatre 2009 is available on www.domaktera.ru (Russian only).
