Primary aim of the festival is to showcase performance approaches of different puppet schools, and the festival will try to represent most broadly theatre schools (graduate students performances) from Russia and international. Interested schools are invited to nominate performances for participation.
To complement this showcase of puppet school performances the festival is planning to run an extensive workshops program: acting techniques, movement, dance techniques, directing, stage make up, puppet making, paper puppet theater (exact workshop program tbc; enquire details with the organizer).
Festival will gather a significant number of Russian puppet theatre professionals and scholars to actively discuss education, study, artistic and other matters relating to puppet schools and puppet theatre in general.
Current deadline for applications (see Application form) is February 10, 2010. This deadline can be extended in well-justified cases (when definite student work plans have not yet been set, for example): please provide the organizer with a letter of interest to participate before the deadline.
As a side program to the festival Saint Petersburg established puppet and TYA theatre companies based in St. Petersburg will run a showcase of their performances. Selected companies are expected to include: Bryantsev Youth Theater (formally known as St.Petersburg State Theatre for Young Audience named after A. Bryantsev), Bolshoy Puppet Theater, Demmeni Puppet Theater, Puppet Theater of Fairy Tales, Pie-Dog puppet theater.
This festival will also host a meeting of UNIMA Education Committee.
